What are you at? Deborah Jackman's fairy gardens

Deborah Jackman loves recycling and colourful art, and she's combined both of those passions into miniature displays she calls fairy gardens.

She developed the fairy gardens as an art project for children, and then continued making them herself.

Jackman has incorporated found objects, small bits of natural material, and has re-purposed small dollar store items for the gardens.

"The ideas are endless. The imagination of it just carries me away," said Jackman.

Jackman sells her fairy gardens at the Mad Market, a craft market run by Mad Pride on the Rock.

That organization is a support group for people who use the mental health system in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Jackman said her fairy gardens create a lot of 'oohs,' and 'ahhs' from customers at the Mad Market.

"They [the fairy gardens] are playful, and I like that they're tapping into that bit of joy," she said.
