VLT class action proposal heard in St. John's court

Final arguments were made Tuesday in aSt. John's courtroom, concerning a proposed class action lawsuit, involving video lottery terminals.

• VLT class action against Atlantic Lottery gets green light

Lawyer Ches Crosbie, on behalf of his clients,is arguing in the Newfoundland and LabradorSupreme Courtthat aclass action should go ahead against theAtlantic Lottery Corporation.

Crosbie, among other things, has argued that VLTs are inherently addictive, and should be dealt with as a class action against the Corporation.

Lawyers for the Atlantic Lottery Corporation have argued that if people have allegedly been harmed, theircases should be heard on an individual basis.

It's expected it will be several months before JusticeAlphonsusFaour delivers his decision.
