All but 1 of province's newly elected MHAs to be sworn in June 10

All but one of the 40MHAselected onMay 16 will be sworn in on June 10, in the House of Assembly chamber in St. John's.

One MHA, the member-elect for the district of Labrador West, won't be part of that ceremony as the district remains subject to a recount.

NDP candidate Jordan Brown won the district by five votes, ousting Graham Letto, a former Liberal cabinet minister. A margin of fewer than ten votes triggers an automatic ballot recount.Brown's victory held when an official addition of the votes was done a few days after the election, and a judicial recount of the ballots will be done next week.

The house will open later that day for the election of the Speaker, before Lt.-Gov. Judy Foote reads the speech from the throne and officially opens the first session of the province's 49thgeneral assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on June 10. General seating in the public galleries will be available for both the throne speech and the Speaker's election.
