Advice from YouTube's Content Partnerships Manager Soo Been Kim on how to create a successful YouTube channel.

East Coast Music Week wasn't just about making music the association also organized a slew of workshops in St. John's for artists to hone their branding and communication skills.

Soo Been Kim,YouTube'smusic content partnerships manager, was one of the guest speakers.

Kim, who lives in New York,spoke at a workshop on how to build a year-long digital marketing and promotion plan for an album launch.

Kim walked artists through the fundaments of social media and spoke to them about developing their own digital strategy using YouTube videos.

According to Kim,branding is key to developing an online fanbase.

"A lot of people think that they can just start uploading and someone will just know that they're there," said Kim.

"But there's a lot of channels and a lot of videos, so unless you make sure you have the branding your website, bio, information in there, your fans might not know that it's the official channel."

Kim also encourages artists to share behind the scenes footage and post videos from the road.

"All of that could be treasure for fans," she said.
