Raymond Stacey heading to November murder trial for co-worker's death

Raymond Stacey, a man accused of stabbing his co-worker to death last winter, is heading for a lengthy trial in November.

Raymond Stacey, aman accused of stabbing his co-worker to death last winter, is heading for a lengthy trial in November.

Stacey entered a not guilty plea to second-degree murder Monday morning when his case was called for arraignment at Newfoundland and Labrador SupremeCourt in St. John's.

Jury selection has been slated for Nov. 2, and the trial is expected to beginon Nov. 14.

The trial is expected tolast one month.

Stacey, 24, is alleged to have stabbed Clifford Comerford, 41,inside a minivan that was transporting them both to work at a chicken barn on Jan. 11, 2015.

The two were employed bya contractor doing work at the Country Ribbon facility near Paddy's Pond.

Comerford was rushed to hospital from Greenwood Crescent off Topsail Road, but later died of his injuries at the Health Sciences Centre.

A preliminary inquiry held last year determined there was enough evidence to proceed to trial.
