Raymond Stacey ordered to stand trial in stabbing death of co-worker

A man accused of stabbing his co-worker in a shuttle van that was taking the pairto work earlier this year has been ordered to stand trial in St. John's.

Raymond Stacey, 24, who ischarged with second-degree murder inClifford Comerford's death lastJanuary, had his case called in provincial court in St. John's Wednesday.

A preliminary inquiry determined there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Stacey and Comerford, who worked as chicken catchers at a barn in Paddy's Pond, were on the way there the night of Jan. 11when Comerford was stabbed.

Emergency responders converged on Greenwood Crescent off Topsail Road, and Comerford was taken to hospital.

He later died.

In an unrelated matter, Stacey has pleaded guilty to theft from Frontline Action in Mount Pearl, stemming from an incident in July 2014.
