Premier Dwight Ball's deputy chief of staff resigns

Tim Murphy, Newfoundland and Labrador's deputy chief of staff to the premier, has resigned.

Dwight Ball appointedTim Murphy to the post ofdeputy chief of staff following the provincial election in November 2015.

Murphy hadworked with Chevron Canada for the preceding decade, and had beena high-ranking civil servant with the Newfoundland and Labrador government for nearly 20 years before working in the oil industry.

A spokesperson for the premier's office said Murphy found the political role "wasn't for him" and "not the sort of challenge he was looking for right now."
