The 148-kilometre drive from the Trans-Canada Highway to Burgeohas always been a bumpy and rocky one, but residents say it's even worse than usual this year.

Potholes can be found on major sections of the road with the asphalt completely washed out in some areas.

Burgeo's residents say the road is in the worst condition they've ever seen.

Rick Blagdon, owner of an auto body shop in Burgeo, is fixing a lot of cars these days.

"We are getting a lot of rim and tire damage," said Blagdon.

"We are seeing a lot of spring damage and suspension damage. People are coming in with bent rims and busted tires."

Blagdon thinks tourists won't go to Sandbanks Provincial Park because of theroad conditions are so poor.

"No one wants to take their $50,000 truck and $30,000 travel trailer and beat the crap out of it to come down and look at a beach," said Blagdon.

He doesn't think the entire stretch of the road will be paved this summer, but says a few kilometres near Buck Lake would be a great improvement.
