Gas prices up slightly across N.L. in weekly price adjustment

Drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador will face slightly higher gas prices on Thursday, following the latest weekly setting from the Public Utilities Board.

Drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador are facingslightly higher gas pricesThursday, following an increase from the Public Utilities Board.

The PUB increased the maximum price by 0.9 cents per litre, putting the topprice for a litre on the Avalon Peninsula where gas is usually cheapest at $1.618 per litre.

Maximum prices vary depending on location, but now range between $1.62 and $1.79 across the rest of Newfoundland and between $1.64 and $2.20 per litre across Labrador.

This week is the second straight week where the price increased after four weeks of decreases.

Prices have risen just 1.5 cents per litreover those two weeks, but remain more than30 centslower per litrethan their highest point this year in April.

All other fuels wentup in price Thursday.

Diesel increased by 2.5 cents per litre, except by 2.8 cents per litre in Labrador West. Maximum prices for the fuel now range between $1.67 and $1.79 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.82 and $2.59 per litre in Labrador.

Furnace oil increased by just over 2.1 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will pay maximum prices between $1.03 and $1.22 per litre.

The price of stove oil decreased by the same amount, except by over 2.6 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The change means maximum prices now range between $1.08 and $1.27 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.19 and $1.94per litre in Labrador.

Propane as fuelincreased by just 0.6 cents per litre, meaning maximum prices now range between 92 cents and $1.05 per litre in Newfoundland and between 78 cents and $1.23 per litre in Labrador.
