New Quidi Vidi plan 'downright criminal,' landowner says

A new City of St. John's development plan for Quidi Vidi Villageis upsetting some residents.

The plansets out rules and regulations for any new construction in the village, from the size and shape of buildings to the colours and materials permitted.

"It's ridiculous. We're looking ata million dollars worth of property gone," said Barnes, who said a largepiece of land that he inherited with his siblings has been rezoned from residential to green space. He expects the market value of the land to plummet.

The citywill soon begin a series of public consultations to answer questions about the new rules for development in Quidi Vidi.
