It started with one dog.

But that wasn't enough.

So, Lori Pope got another, and it wasn't long before shehad a five-dog sled team.

That was three years ago. Now, Pope isan organizer for the Henry John Williams Memorial Dog Team Race at the Labrador Winter Games.

"I love Stormy, oh I got to take Griffin home, and then I got Trot oh,I got a team now, and it just went from there," she said.

These huskies aren't your traditional house pets. They're working dogs, and they're eager to do their job.

"They work well together as a team, running," Pope said. "That's what their work is, their job is. They love it."

Running in the team comes naturally to these dogs, since Pope began training them when they were puppies.

"Even before I had a team, I'd put them in harnesses and run them on skidoo," she said. "You might be able to hook them up and they'd be like 'yup this is what I was born to do and I know what to do."
