Liberal Judy Foote re-elected as MP for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity

Liberal Judy Foote is heading back to Ottawa with the highest percentage of the votes of any candidate in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Liberal Judy Foote is heading back to Ottawa as the MP for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity,with the highest percentage of the votes of any candidate in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Foote captured almost 82per cent of the vote Monday night, crediting that landslide to the national momentum behind leader Justin Trudeau.

"It just goes to showthat people, certainly through Newfoundland and Labrador,c. And they liked what Mr. Trudeau was offering," said Foote from her campaign headquarters in Grand Bank.

"I think that our victory in such a short time frame just points to that people listen, people heard the message, and people believed him."

A wide margin

The three other candidates in the running trailed Foote by a wide margin.

Conservative Mike Windsor came in second with 10.1 per cent of the vote, while the NDP's Jenn Brown captured 7.3per cent, and the Green Party's Tyler Colbourne just 0.8 per cent.

Foote said she kept things low-key for the victory her third straight federal win.

"I'm celebrating with my campaign team, I've always said you don't win an election on your own, you win it with your team, who work so hard," said Foote.

In the 2011 election, Foote won with almost 50 per cent of the votein the former riding of Random-Burin-St.Georges, where she was theMP since 2008.
