Labrador man charged after girlfriend beaten

A Labrador man has been charged with assault following a New Year's Day beating that sent a woman to hospital.

Neil Andrew,20, was charged after an incident in Sheshatshiu, near Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

His girlfriend, 19, was found severely beaten outside a home in the Innu community on Jan. 1.

The womanwas in good condition in hospital Monday and is expected to recover.
