Police in St. John's are investigating two muggings that occurred within 12 hours of each other, including one incident in which a knife was pulled.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said two men accosted a group of men early Monday morning on Cookstown Road, near downtown St. John's.

One of the men pulled a knife, and a 35-year-old man's wallet was stolen. He was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

Meanwhile, a woman jumped another woman on Sunday afternoon in the parking lot near the Dominion supermarket on Blackmarsh Road.

The attacker pulled the woman along the ground and tried to steal her purse. The woman sustained minor injuries.
