Former Tory minister John Hickey wants Liberals elected in Lake Melville

Former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister John Hickey says he wants to see Tory MHA Keith Russell defeated in the Newfoundland and Labradorelection.

Hickey said he wants Liberal Perry Trimper elected on Nov. 30. Hickey said heexpects Dwight Ballto form the next government and that he wants a government member to help with projects like Gull Island.

Hickey told CBC News thatRussell hasn't been great as a minister on the government side, adding that he would be worse in opposition.

Hickey, who said he isn'tactively involved in any campaign, saidhe also voted Liberal in last month'sfederal election.

"I wanted to see the back of Stephen Harper's head going through the door," said Hickey, adding he wants to see what Justin Trudeau can accomplish as prime minister.

Hickey said he's never been focused on any individual party, adding he ran for the PCs because they were the dominant party at the time.
