61-year-old dead after moped collides with backhoe in Dunville

A 61-year-old man is dead after the moped he was riding collided with a backhoe, according to the RCMP.

A 61-year-old man is dead after the moped he was riding collided with a backhoe, according to the RCMP.

Police received word of the crash shortly after 3 p.m. NT on Friday, according to a news release issued Monday, which happened at the intersection of Mainand Greenhouse roads in Dunville, N.L.,about eight kilometres from Placentia.

The driver of the backhoe wasn't injured, but the moped driver was taken to hospital and died from his injuries a few hours later, according to the release.

Police say they're investigating the crash.
