Botwood-based company facing 3 occupational health and safety charges

A contracting company is facing three charges afteran employee fell from a roof while on the job two years ago.

Botwood-based D.S. Building Contractor Limited, which lists Derek Sceviour as its sole director, has been charged under Newfoundland and Labrador's occupational health and safetyregulations.

According to a statement from Service N.L., the occupational health and safety division carried out an investigation after an incident in Botwood that took place in April 2022.

"The accident involved a fall from a residential roof that resulted in one worker receiving serious injuries," said the statement.

The three violations are disturbing the scene of an accident, failing to ensure workers were given the necessary training, supervision and facilities to ensure their safety, andfailing to ensure appropriate fall protection equipment was used.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

The company is due in a provincial court in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 8.
