2 dead in crash on Burin Peninsula Highway

Two men died in a crash involving a transport truck on the Burin Peninsula Highway early Friday, according to the RCMP.

Two men died in a crash involving a transport truck on Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula Highway early Friday, according to the RCMP.

Shortly after 6 a.m. Friday, police received a report of a crash on Route 210 near the exit to Red Harbour, about 20 kilometres northeast of Marystown, where a transport truck and pickup truck collided, according to a press release from the police.

Both men in the pickup truck, a 33-year-old and a 60-year-old, died at the scene, saypolice. The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police are investigating the crash with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
