Warning! Coyotes prowling in Paradise - again

The Town of Paradise is warning residents about coyote sightings in the Ashlen Crescent area.

In a posting Tuesday, the town said there have been sightings in the neighbourhood, off St. Thomas Line.

It advised people to not feed coyotes, and to not leave pet food or edible garbage outside.

Pets should also kept indoors, or under supervision when outside, said the town.

According to the advisory, people can recognize a coyote by its tawny-grey coat with black tips, reddish-yellow legs, pawsand muzzle, and white belly.

Coyotes have been spotted before, in 2015, in the Summit Drive area,which is alsooff St. Thomas Line.

Last December, a coyote was seen crossing Route 60 in Conception Bay South.

In March, a Torbay woman saw a coyote crossing her neighbour's front lawn

Sightings should be reported to the Department of Natural Resources at 709-729-4180.

The department said there were 32 coyote sightingsbetween January and March on the Avalon Peninsula, and 58 animals were spotted last year.
