A Conception Bay South rugby player has agreed to an extended contract with the London Irish through the 2016/17 season.

Ciaran Hearn, 30, was first signed to the U.K. team last year, following his performance with Team Canada during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Since signing with the London Irish, Hearn has been a regular starter.

He played in the centre and on the wing for Irish so far in the 2015-16 season, and made six appearances for the club in the Aviva Premiership, scoring two tries against Gloucester and Worcester respectively.

Hearn has made 49 appearances for Canada, in both the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups, as well as in the Sevens World Series.
