Former house speaker Perry Trimper has now moved into the role of municipal affairs and environment minister, in Friday's cabinet shuffle.

Trimper was formerly the speaker of the House of Assembly. Before taking on the speaker role, he had previously held the role of environment minister.

Christopher Mitchelmore is moving into the advanced education and skills portfolio, while Bernard Davis is taking over as minister of tourism, culture, industry and innovation.

Deputy speaker Scott Reid and MHA for St. George's-Humber will replace Trimper until a new speaker is elected once the House of Assembly reconvenes.

Premier Dwight Ball's cabinet was sworn in at the end of May, with few changes from the Liberal government's previouscabinet.

Brian Warr was the only new addition, taking on the role as minister of education and early childhood development.

Two former cabinet ministers were unseated during this spring's provincial election.
