Black Tickle fish plant closing

Acrab processing plant in the Labrador community of Black Tickle is closing, leaving up to 60 people out of work.

Mayor Wendy Quinlan says the plant's owners, Quinlan Brothers, notified the community ofthe news via fax on Tuesday.

She says its devastating news for an isolated community that has no other major employer.

The provincial fisheries department said it will provide support to the affected workersasit does for workers at other plants that close.
