Black bear sightings prompt warning in Pasadena

Residents of a community on Newfoundland's west coast are being warned to watch out for black bears after multiple sightings.

The Town of Pasadena issued an advisory on its Facebook page after black bears were spotted roaming around the area in recent days.

The province's Fisheries and Land Resources Wildlife Division has also set up a bear trap to try and catch the animals.

Residents are being asked to remove garbage or food that may attract the animals.

And, they're reminding people not to feed the bears as they "can be unpredictable when approached by humans."

The town says people should try to remain calm if they see a bear and back away slowly.
