Anglican priest's bail hearing postponed again

A bail hearing for an Anglican priest facing child pornography charges is postponed for a second time.

A bail hearing for an Anglican priest facing child pornography charges was postponed Thursday for a second time.

Robin Barrett of Conception Bay South, N.L., has been in custody since being charged Tuesday with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Barrett, 50, was scheduledfor a bail hearing Wednesday, but it was put off until Thursday and then again untilFriday.

Undercover Toronto policeinvestigatorshave allegedthey obtained pornographic images of children from the priest after making contact with him in online chat rooms.

Meanwhile, the priest who has taken over Barrett's duties at St. Paul's Church in the Goulds area of St. John's, says the congregation is struggling to cope.

"It's very personal," Sandra Tilley said. "There's a lot of hurts. Different people handle things differently. Some will have anger. Some will have hurt. Some will withdraw. Some will come forward. It's a whole mix of things, and the only thing we can do is be the most pastoral we can be."
