7 arrested by RNC in coke trafficking busts

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested seven men following raids today to dismantle an alleged cocaine trafficking operation.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested seven men following raids today to dismantlean allegedcocaine-trafficking operation.

RNC officers executed search warrants at a house on Vail Place, near Mundy Pond, and on a motor home parked on Cabot Street in the citys downtown.

Police said they seized a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and the motor home.

The RNC drug investigation unit began its probe in February. Operation Raptor involved an organized group of people who police believe were responsible for trafficking cocaine in the central area of St. Johns.

The accused are expected to appear in provincial court on Friday. Charges will include trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine.

Police said their investigation is continuing.
