Tyler Noel arrested in Petitcodiac, wanted for murder of Baylee Wylie

Police have arrested Tyler Noel, who has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a Moncton man.

Police have arrested Tyler Noel, who has been charged with first-degree murderin connection with the deathof a Moncton man.

CodiacRCMPhave confirmed Noel, 18, was apprehended near Petitcodiac, N.B.,around 1 p.m. Saturday.

Const.Julie Rogers-Marsh says police were called to a break in at a cottage in Elgin yesterday around noon. She says that led them to Petitcodiac where police arrested Noel, who they saywas in a car at the time.

There were two other people in the vehicle, police say.

Police say the other two people were arrested. As of Sunday at noon they remained in custody.

Noel is scheduled toappear inMonctonprovincial court Jan.13 at 9:30 a.m.

Family reacts

Wylie's aunt, Angie Wylie,issued a statement on behalf of the familyafter Noel's apprehension.

"Yesterday was a good day for us. We receivednotice that Tyler Noel had been captured at approx 3 p.m. If you could only understand the feeling of relief as my sister heard across the phone that they had him," Angie Wyle wrote in a text message to CBC News.

"Now we just need to concentrate our efforts on finding Marissa. Anyone who has even a tip no matter how small please call it in. All it takes is one person."

A day earlier,Wylie'smother, AmandaWylie, made a public appeal after attending a court appearance for DevonMorningstaron Jan. 8 at theMonctonLaw Courts.

"We need justice forBaylee, so we've been sharing it all overFacebookand nobody seems to be finding these two people," she said.

"I just want to plead with the public that they help find these two people, that theyhelp bring myson ...justice."

Morningstar, 18, is in custody. Hehas also been charged with first-degree murder andhas been sent for a 30-day psychiatric assessment.

Sought by police for weeks

RCMP have been searching for Noel andMarissaShephard, 20, since they were charged withfirst-degree murder and arsonin connection with 18-year oldBayleeWylie'sdeath.

The pair were named as persons of interest afterWylie'sbody was discovered after an early-morning house fire inMonctonon Dec. 17.

Canada-wide warrants were issued for the pair on Dec. 28, days after the charges were laid and a local warrant was issued.

RCMP say the focus now is on capturing Shephard.

"She's still at large at this time. But certainly a development to have located and arrested Tyler Noel," saidRogers-Marsh.

Police had warned that the pairwere considered dangerous because of the violent nature of the crime, and that anyone helping them hide could face serious charges as well.
