Two people found dead after fire in Saint John homeless encampment

Police are still investigating and have not released any information about the two people who died.

The fire happened just up the street from another recent fatal fire in a homeless encampment

Two people are dead after a fire at a homeless encampmentin Saint John on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to a tent fire on Paradise Row at 3:41 p.m., according to a release from Saint John Police issued Monday evening.

After the fire was put out, two individuals were found dead. The release stated thatinvestigators areworking to identify them.

Police, fireand the coroner's office are all involved in the investigation, and are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to reach out.

It's been a deadly winter for unhoused people in New Brunswick.

A homeless man died in a tent fire in January just up the street from Monday's fire.

Anotherhomeless man was found outside in St. Stephen in December and another was found in a Fredericton landfill earlier this month.
