Slain Oland's son focus of search warrant

The Saint John Police spent several hourson Thursday at the home of Richard Oland's son executing a search warrant.

CBC News has confirmed the house on Gondola PointRoad belongs to Dennis Oland, the son of the prominent New Brunswick businessman who was found dead in his office last week.

Saint John Police would not officially confirm who lives in the house or that it is related to the homicide investigation.

Sgt. Glenn Hayward said officers arrived at the house around 12 p.m. AT on Thursday.

There were at least three forensic vans at the house and about six unmarked police cars.

The canine unit was also on the property and they've been searching both the house and the barn.

Officerswere seencovering some of the windows with cardboard.

CBC Newstried to get copies of information filed in provincial court in support of the warrant, which wouldsaywhy police wanted to search this property, but those documents have been sealed.

Hayward won't say if they're planning to execute any other search warrants.

Richard Oland was found dead on July 7 in his Saint John office. The police confirmed on Monday that Oland's death was a homicide but have released few other details.

The Oland family owns Moosehead Brewery, but Richard Oland left the company in the 1980s. His brother Derek now runs the brewery as its executive chairman.

Richard Oland was an accomplished sailor. He won the International Rolex Regatta in St. Thomas in 2010.
