Shediac residents protest over water quality, mega-campground

About 200 residents gathered at the town hall in Shediac, N.B., Sunday morning to voice support for preserving the Shediac Bay.

About 200 residents gathered at the town hall in Shediac, N.B., Sunday morning to voice support for preserving the Shediac Bay.

The protest was organized by the Save Wetlands Waters and Tourism group.

Many of the protesters carried signs displayed with slogans such as "save our shores," "preserve our wetlands" and "say no to mega campgrounds."

The group wasasking for improved water quality testing atParleeBeach, as well as against a meg-campground that was proposed for the area.

The campground, which would have at least 650 sites, is under review.
