River search for missing Mount Allison student continues

RCMP divers continued to search the Tantramar River on Tuesday for a missing Mount Allison University student or any clues about his whereabouts.

Christopher Metallic, 20, hasnot been seensince Nov. 25, following a house party in Sackville.

RCMP, members of the Sackville Fire Department and volunteers with the Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue havebraved the frozen riverand its banks for three days.

No new information or clues about Metallic, a third-year student, have been located to date, said Cpl. Elise Ct.

Six divers were in the water on Tuesday.

If nothing new is found bythe end of the day, Ct expects the active search for Metallic willwrap up.

Any further searches would have to be linked to new information, she said.

Although it's unknown whether Metallic may have ended up in the river, policefound flip flopshe had been wearing in a nearby wooded area and a person matching his description was also seen walking on the Upper Aboujagne Road the morning he went missing.

Metallic, who isoriginally from Listuguj First Nation in Quebec,is described as being aboriginal, six feet tall, 180 pounds, with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a shiny bright blue sweater, jeans and flip flops.

Metallic's family is now offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps locate him, according to a post on a Facebook group called Chris Metallic Please help us bring him home.The familywas previously offering $2,000.
