Liberals hang on to most of north, but lose a minister

Riding results for northern New Brunswick, where the Liberals did well, though they lost a cabinet minister to the PCs.

The Liberals had a strong night in the north of the province, though they lost a cabinet minister to star Progressive Conservative candidateRobertGauvin.

Shippagan-Lameque-Miscou

RobertGauvin, whose father Jean was a Tory fisheries minister,won the riding for the PCs with 4,048votes, unseatingLiberal incumbent WilfredRoussel, the agriculture minister.

Rousselhad 3,949 votes while AlbertRoussellefor theNDPhad 578 and Independent candidate PhilippeTisseuilhad 178.

There were 8,753 ballots cast in this riding that had11,013 eligible voters.

Tracadie-Sheila

Liberal KeithChiassonwon with 4,320 votes.

PCClaude Landry had 2,390,NDPcandidateFrancisDuguayhad 1,213, Green Party candidateNancyBenoit390,and Independent candidateStphaneRichardson 544.

There were 8,857 ballots cast in the riding that has11,926 eligible voters.

Caraquet

Liberal IsabelleThriaultwon with 5,420 votes.

PCKevinHachhad 1,827,NDPcandidateKatyCasavant548,YvonDurellefor the Green Party 330and Independent candidateGuilmondHbert330.

There were 8,498 ballots cast in this ridingwith11,000 eligible voters.

BathurstWest-Beresford

Liberal incumbent and Education Minister Brian Kenny won with 4,351 votes.

PCYvonLandry had 1,082 votes, whileMikeRaufor the Green Party had 503,NDPcandidateAnne-ReneThomas had 443 andKISS candidate JamesRisdon had 64.

There were 6,443 ballots cast in the ridingwith10,878 eligible voters.

BathurstEast-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore

Liberal incumbent and cabinet minister Denis Landrywon with 3,550 votes.

Jean Maurice Landry for theNDPhad 2,026, while PCMichelle Branch had 858 votes andRobertKryszkofor the Green Party had 421.

There were 6,855 ballots cast in this ridingwith 10,773 eligible voters.

RestigoucheWest

Labour Minister GillesLePagewas re-elected with 4,233 votes.

CharlesThriaultfor the Green Party was next with 2,540, followed byPC DavidMoreauwith 961, New DemocratBeverly Mann with 263, and KISS candidate Travis Pollock with 64.

Restigouche-Chaleur

Liberal incumbent DanielGuitardhandily won with 4,430votes.

MarioComeaufor the Green Party received 831 votes whilePCCharles Stewart had 826 votes and PaulTremblayfor theNDPwith 621 votes.

There were 6,708ballots cast in thisridingwith11,128eligible voters.

Campbellton-Dalhousie

Liberal GuyArseneaultwon with 3,720 votes.

PCDianeCyrhad 1,761 votes,ThrseTremblay721 votesfor theNDP,AnnieThriaultwith 637 votes for the Green Party and People's Alliance candidateRobertBoudreauwith 558.

There were 7,397 ballots cast in this ridingwith11,078 eligible voters.
