RCMP investigate suspicious death after Moncton house fire

Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious death after being called to a fire on Sumac Street in Moncton early on Thursday morning.

Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious death after being called to a fire on Sumac Street in Moncton early on Thursday morning.

"The RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the suspicious death of a man following a house fire on December 17, 2015, in Moncton," according to theRCMPnews release.

The Moncton Fire Department was called to the fire in a triplex at 96 Sumac Street at about 4 a.m.

"Unfortunately we did discover a fatality in the unit," said Arsenault.

The two other units in the building were not damaged and no one has been displaced.

Investigators from the fire department, the fire marshal and Codiac RCMP remain on scene.

The three-unit building on the corner of Sumac andDrummond Streets is surrounded bypolice tape with several police and fire vehicles on the scene,including the RCMP forensic identification unit.
