Pleas of Hells Angel Robin Moulton and 'known associate' delayed again

The court caseof a man identified by RCMP as afull-patch member of the Hells Angels Nomads and one of his "known associates," bothcharged with drugs and weapons-related offences, hasbeen delayed another month because their lawyers are awaitingdisclosure from the Crown.

Robin Moulton, 48, and Marie AntonetteBugay, 40, both ofFredericton, werescheduled to choose their mode of trial and enter pleas inSaint John provincial court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

But Emily Cochrane, who was acting as agent for both Moulton's Fredericton-based lawyer T.J. Burke and Bugay's Moncton-based lawyer Mathieu Boutet,told the court they need more time.

"Both defence are still waiting on disclosure from the Crown," she said. "Without it, we're unable to properly advise our clients, so we'll be looking for another month."

Moultonis facing 12 charges, most of which relate to firearms, namely a high-powered rifle with a silencer and a loaded 9-mm handgun, which he'd been banned from possessing for life, according to court documents.

Bugayis charged jointly with Moulton on seven of the offences, plusthree on her own, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and having possession of more than $5,000,knowing that all or part of it was obtained by the commission of an offence.

They can each choose to be tried either by a provincial court judge,Court of Queen's Bench judge alone, or by judge and jury in the Court of Queen's Bench.

Judge AndrewLeMesurieradjourned the matter untilDec. 19 at 1:30 p.m., as Moulton andBugaylooked on from the prisoner's box,their jail-issued grey T-shirts covering some of their tattoos.

Moulton, now sporting a beard but no moustache, was seated, andBugaywas standing, with two sheriff's deputies between them.

Neither accused showed any reaction to being remandedin custody for another month.

Arrested in August

They have both been in custody since August, when they were arrested separately as part of a joint investigation into outlaw motorcycle gang activities in New Brunswick,RCMPhave said.

Moulton has been held at the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre,and Bugaywould be at the province's Women's Correctional Centre is inMiramichi.

During their previous court appearance on Oct. 11, the Crown prosecutortold the court she neededmore time to vet information related to the case before providing further disclosure to the defence lawyers.

The judge had set the matter over until Thursday's appearance, whenMoulton and Bugayboth had a handful of supporters in the courtroom.

Moulton was arrested near Woodstock on Aug. 22 after being stopped while driving on the Trans-Canada Highway.

He was charged after police searched his Fredericton residence on Brunswick Street and "several" other locations across the province and seized numerous items, RCMP have said.

Bugaywas arrested and released Aug. 24 after police searched a residence on Aberdeen Street in Fredericton. She was rearrested on Aug. 29.

Moulton and Bugaywere both previously denied bail. There are publication bans on the evidence presented during their separatebail hearings.
