A 26-year-old man has been charged in relation to the death of Gavin Adams, who was found dead in the north end of Saint John almost a year ago.

Adams was 17when he went missing. After a two-day search, his body was found in a parking lot at the corner of Chesley Drive and Hilyard Street, not far from his last known location.

Saint John police said the accused will appear in court Tuesday on charges related to Adams's death and drugs.

Three days after Adam's body was discovered, Saint John police issued a public advisory about the use of dangerous hallucinogenic drugs like 25i. It is often found on small square pieces of paper and can be mistaken for LSD.

The warning said the drug has been declared illegal in the U.S., where it has been associated withmany deaths. Police did not say how the drug is connected to Adams's death.

The family and friends of Adams also issued a public release Monday thanking the Saint John police for helping to illuminate the circumstances surrounding his death.

In an email, spokesman Geoff Britt said: We encourage everyone to help protect our children and act quickly against new and harmful threats that have become apparent in our communities.

At the time Adamss body was found, police said foul play was not suspected.
