Cabela'shas set up a temporary hiring site in Moncton as the outdoor retailer begins the process of hiring 140 full-time, part-time and temporary workers.

Tim Brown, general manager at the new 50,000 square foot store which is scheduled to open in May, calls the response "fantastic," saying they have already received 800 applications.

"We'relooking for those people with the right attitude," he said.

"We do want them tohave some outdoor experience because at the end of the day, we're selling adventures to people and we really want to have people who can share experiences with the customers and some retail background as well."

Kristy Boone was one of the many applicants who met with Cabela's staff on Wednesday.

She moved to Monctonjust over a month ago and saysshe is hoping for a full-time position.

"I would prefer full-time but at this point, I mean I'm not having luck with the full-time, so I might have to accept part-time," Boone said.

Boone says she is hoping her experience as a cashier will get her in the door at the store which will carryhunting, fishing, hiking and camping equipment.

Cabela's currently has seven stores in Canada in Barrie, Ont., Edmonton, Atla., Nanaimo, B.C., Regina and Saskatoon, Sask., and Winnipeg,Man, according to its website.

Brown says theMonctonstore, off Mapleton Road, will be an ideal central location for the Maritimes.
