Bernard Richard receives New Brunswick Human Rights Award

Former New Brunswick ombudsman and child and youth advocate Bernard Richard received the 2015 New Brunswick Human Rights Award on Wednesday.

Lt. Gov. Jocelyne Roy Vienneau presented the award in a ceremony held at Government House in Fredericton.

Richard was selected due to "his exceptional work in the promotion and advocacy of rights-based issues within the province."

The award was established by the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission in 1988 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
