Some voters frustrated by long lineups at advance polls

Some people were frustrated by the long lines at advance polls in the province today.

Elections Canada says it couldn't have predicted such a large turnout

Some people were vexedby the long lines at advance polls in the provincetoday, as New Brunswickersturned out in large numbersto cast their votes.

"It's an organizational issue, it's not good, it will keep people away,"said Fredericton voter TimKairns. "Luckily they're open for the next fourdays,but still, this is the second time here today and we still can't get in."

ChrisWilson,alsoofFredericton,saideverything went smoothly for him, but he saw others struggling with the process.

"[A]couple of elderly ladies, they didn't have proper ID and they had to sign this, and do this. And everyone is just backed up because there's only one polling station."

A spokesperson for Elections Canada said the agency couldn't have predicted such a large turnout.

"It's regrettable, but this is what happens when everyone decides to show up at the same time," saidFrancoise Enguehard.

"The returning officers, and the people in charge of the offices will do everything they can, and they have that flexibility, to make sure they try to accommodate the people who come."

The polls are open from noon until 8pm until Monday night.
