Man shot dead outside Terrebonne home

Provincial police are investigating after a 42-year-old man was found dead outside a home in Terrebonne, Que., Sunday night.

Witnesses called police after gunfire heard in quiet residential neighbourhood Sunday

Quebec provincial police are investigating after a 42-year-old man was found dead outside a home in Terrebonne Sunday night.

The victim has been identified asric Chabot. He is known to police, though aSret du Qubecspokesperson declined to say in what capacity.

Police were called after witnesses heard gunfire at around 10:30 p.m.on AsselinStreet nearUbald-ChartrandStreetin the Lachenaie district.

Local policehanded the investigation over to provincial police and a special investigation unit is now on the scenewith a command post.

Neighbours told CBCNews Chabot wasactive in the community.

The SQ is collaborating with local policeand anybody with information about the death is encouraged to contact authorities, Sgt. Claude Denis said.
