Man believed to have ties to organized crime dies in Brossard shooting

The shooting happened in the parking lot outside World Gym on Taschereau Boulevard, part of Place Portebello a strip mall just west of Highway 10.

Investigation into the shooting outside World Gym has been transferred to provincial police

A man is deadafter he wasshot outside a Brossard gym Wednesday morning, police say.

A Longueuil police spokesperson said the shooting happened in the parking lot outside World Gym on Taschereau Boulevard, part of Place Portebello a strip mall just west of Highway 10.

The first 911 came in at around 11:30 a.m. The man was transported to hospital in critical condition. His death was announced a few hours later.

Police identified the man as 49-year-old Roger Bishop Jr.

He is believed to have ties to organized crime, so the investigation has been transferred to the Sret du Qubec.

A section of the parking lot was cordoned off and provincial police investigators are on the scene.
