Quebec measles cases jump to 19 in Lanaudire region

Another Quebecer has contracted measles and had visited a mall during the incubation phase, according to the department of public health in the Lanaudire region.

Public health authorities ask people who went to Rogers store at Galeries Joliette to call or report to CLSC

AnotherQuebecerhas contracted measles, according to the department of public health in theLanaudireregion, just northeast of Montreal.

The person visited a Rogers store at the Galeries Joliette shopping mall during the incubation phase, meaning he or shewas highly contagious at the time.

The person was unvaccinated, but the public health department says its possible its not linked to the previous cases in the Lanaudire region.

Public health authorities are asking people who went to the Rogers store at Galeries Joliettebetween Feb. 12 and 19 to call450-755-2111 ext. 2404 or report to the CLSC on Sunday or Monday.

Earlier in February,10 unvaccinated people living in the Lanaudire region were diagnosed with measles after a trip to Disneyland.

There are now 19 declared cases of measles in the region.

Public health departmentspokeswomanPascale Lamysaid there were eight cases of measles in theLanaudireby Feb. 3. That number jumped to 10 on Feb. 11, and then again to 18 within the last couple of days.

She saidsome of the 19 have since been cured.
