The former Canadiens defenceman came back to Montreal to host a comedy gala that raised funds for charity.

P.K. Subban'sdebut as a Just for Laughs gala host was a hit before he even said a word.

He waswelcomedwith a lengthy standing ovation and chants of "P.K!"

Fans couldn't get enough oftheformerCanadiensdefenceman, who was unceremoniously shipped to Nashville in June.

Subban took a fewswipes at his former team's managementat the charity gala, whose proceeds will go to the Montreal Children's Hospital.

But he also took pains to thank the teamfor helping him get hisstart in the NHL.
