AZUR malfunction shuts down section of Metro's Orange line

Service on the Montreal Metro's Orange linebetween Cte-Vertu and Plamondon was shut down Saturday after a tire problem with one of the new AZUR cars damaged track equipment.

Amelie Rgis, a spokesperson for the Socitde transport deMontral,confirmed that the closed section of the line may not reopen by tonight asrepairs are in order.

The AZUR cars are being gradually phasedin on the Orange line since the first car was rolled out last spring.

The shutdown comes only days after the STM promised better communication and service heading into 2017.

Rgis says extra buses will be circulating in the affected area.

Service on the other linesarenot affected, the STM says.
