Taxi drivers with permits to pick up passengers at Montreal'sTrudeauairport will soon have to meet a new dress code.

They will be requiredto wear collared shirts, dress pantsand dress shoes andsay goodbye tobaseball caps, T-shirts, shorts andsandals.

The new dress code was developed by taxi drivers in collaboration with Montreal's airport authority andis intended to reflect a professional appearance for tourists.

Stanley Bastien, a taxi driver who was part of the groupwhodeveloped the new rules, said it will help change the "perception of cab drivers."

Bastiensaidhe has had complaints from customers and somehave even refused rides.

"It's a question of trust," he said."We are the first contact with people from all around the world."

Not everyone is on board with the new rules.

Taxi driverNoel Joseph saidhe thinks casual clothes should be acceptable attireas long as they are clean.

"If it'svery clean, that should be good," he said.

"You know,I don't know why they want to force people to put something like a suit in thelimousine, you know."

The new dress code will be in place as of Nov.15.
