Montreal musicians come together for Haiti benefit concert

The charity concert was held Nov. 3 in support of families living in Southern Haiti that have been hit by Hurricane Matthew.

Kaytranada, Lou Phelps, Pierre Kwenders, Nomadic Massive and others perform at fundraiser

Montreal musicians, including Polaris Prize winner Kaytranada, came together Thursday night to raise money for families in southern Haiti dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

She, along with her daughterAsha Cariotte Vertus, helped bring a dozen artists together for the fundraiser.

"I'm overwhelmed," said Cariotte of her daughter's involvement."I don't even have the words to express how proud of her I am."

The event featured performances by artists including Kaytranada, Lou Phelps, Pierre Kwenders, FOXTROTT, Illa J, Nomadic Massive, Clay & Friends and Team GAYA.

Kaytranadaperformed at the event to support a cause he says is close to his heart.

"I want to help what's going on in Haiti. You know, I was born there and it's still part of my life even though I haven't been since I was four. I guess it was just the right thing to do."
