Parti Qubcois Leader Pauline Marois plans to be around for the next provincial election even if some of her own party doesnt like it.

"Im here to stay. Im here for the next election," Marois told reporters after Wednesdays caucus meeting in Quebec City.

The marathon caucus session addressed her leadership, which has reportedly been in question after several MNAs and riding presidents defected from the party.

"Its normal that it took so long," Marois said asshe emergedWednesday night. "We are the Parti Qubcois. Everyone has something to say."

Marois is facing pressure from some of her caucus to step aside over her inability to raise the partys support in Quebec.

Despite his unpopularity, Premier Jean Charest continues to best the PQ in the polls.

At least six caucus members have reportedly suggested Marois step aside before the next election, which could be in the coming year.

Five MNAs have quit in recent months, some publicly citing her leadership and the party's direction.

However, Marois, who appeared up beat as she left the meeting Wednesday, claims to have the support of her remaining MNAs.

The PQ caucus is scheduled to meet again Thursday.
