Man and his dog fatally struck on highway in Brossard, Que.

Both the man and his dog were declared dead at the scene after emergency services arrived.

A man has died after he was struck while trying to pursue his dogon Highway 10 on Montreal's South Shore, Thursday evening.

The collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. at the height of kilometre 14 in Brossard, Que. The man, who was driving east,had pulled over to the side of the highway when his dog escaped the vehicle, according to provincial police.

"So he tried to pursue him and unfortunately was hit by another car heading west," saidSret du Qubec (SQ) spokespersonAudrey-Anne Bilodeau.

Both the man and the dog were declared dead at the scene after emergency services arrived.

Bilodeausays the man was in his 30s and was from Laval, Que.

The westbound lane was closed at the height of kilometre 11 until kilometre 22, while a specialized collisions investigator analyzed the scene. The highway was completely reopened around 11:30 p.m.
