Longueuil police hit 6-year-old boy with patrol car

The boy is in hospital in stable condition and the officers involved were treated for shock.

A six-year-old boy was hit by a Longueuil police cruiser Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. while police were out responding to a call.

The incident happened onGoyetteStreet while the boy was crossing the street.

Neighbour Claude Arcand heard a loud sound and ran outside.

"I heard a kind of a 'boom' and we were just in our house and we went out and we saw the police car with the flasher on. So we saw one police officer was close to the kid and after a few minutes, her supervisor came over and she was really in shock," Arcand said.

The boy was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police say hesuffered minor injuries. He has been released from hospital.

The two officers involved were treated for shock.

Longueuil police are investigating the cause of the incident.
