Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after attack in Quebec City apartment

A man has been charged with second-degree murder after an armed attack in Quebec City's Limoilou borough.

Woman in her 20s also suffered non-life threatening injuries in Limoilou borough

A 31-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with ahomicide in Quebec City's Limoilou borough.

Michel Mwendanga appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier that morning, at 12:55 a.m., police responded to a 911 call at an apartment buildingonEugne-Lamontagne Avenue.

Inside, they found the victim, Jordan Lumbala, who is in his 30s,and a woman in her 20s with serious injuries. They were both transported to a hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.

Police have not said how the victims were injured except to say it was an armed attack.

According to Radio-Canada,Lumbala and Mwendanga are brothers and apartment belongs to the accused.Mwendanga was arrested at the scene.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries,Quebec City police say.

"As for the second victim, we are still waiting for additional evidence to be disclosed," said Crownprosecutor Matthieu Rochette.

Mwendanga remains in custody and will return to court on Aug.19.
