Highway 20, Hochelaga Street reopen after heavy rain causes flooding

Highway 20 was closed Tuesday night near the Angrignon exit and underpass due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall, but it has since reopened.

Highway 20 was closed Tuesday night near the Angrignon exit and underpass due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall, but it has since reopened.

Sret du Qubecspokesperson Sgt. Marie-Pier Lorrain said the highway closed in the westbound direction at 7:30 p.m., leaving onlyone eastbound lane open.

Lorrain said the water reached the height of a car tire.Three vehicles were stuck in the westbound lanes, and one was stuck in the eastbound lane. The vehicles were towed out.

Police say no one was in danger.

Montreal police also had to close Hochelaga Street for about two hours between L'Assomption Boulevard and Bennett Avenue due to flooding.The street was closed from 5 p.m. to about 7:30 p.m.

One car was stuck under anoverpass, but was able to get out once the water levels came down.

There was also some water accumulation in the boroughs of Saint-Lonardand Saint-Laurent, but nothing major, police say.
