My Life on the Roadis Steinem's first book in two decades and the subject of her talk Tuesday evening at the Rialto Theatre.

Steinem talked about what it's like to still be on the road at age 81 and still affecting the lives of people she inspired. Among the many topics she touched on was the importance of women of colour who taught her about feminism, but who don't get the recognition for it.

The talk was marked by an aboriginal woman who approached the microphone and sang Steinem a song of women's honour, which brought down the house.

Other women asked her about how the web changed social movements, how to be taken seriously when judged only by looks, and if men have a place in feminism.

The event, hosted by the CBC'sJeanetteKelly, wasorganized by the Montreal publishing company, Drawn & Quarterly.

You can also tune in to Jeanette Kelly's Cinq Six program next Saturday on CBC Radio between 5 and 6 p.m. to hear audio segments from the event.
